Workshop# 3 - Finance and Business Strategies

 

Workshop# 3 included practical and exponential activities where students had the opportunity to interact with successful young entrepreneurs. The workshop lasted for five hours and was taught in three parts: a) Business Development This section was presented by Mr. Genco Cebecioglu, the CEO and founder of Junction Design Inc. a company that specializes in Digital Media. Mr. Cebecioglu discussed and shared his personal experiences on the process of start-up, scale-up, and stay-up. The student learned about his start-up experiences, top reasons why startup failed and four pillars to scale up as well as how to articulate their business ideas. b) Financial Guidance - Crowd Funding The Crowdfunding session was presented by Mr. Bill Jouni, the CEO and founder of Lava Clip; a company specializes in portable heating devices. In his presentation, he touched on the advantages and disadvantages of crowd funding as well as how important it is to make smart decisions when it comes to investing in your business. Also, the workshop challenged students to try out new sources when applying for funding for their start up. c) Networking Session In the last part, students got the opportunity to network and socialized with other business owners such as Fredrick from Nvest and Timothy Szetor, Director of Investor Group.
